At Crete Carrier we believe your success as an Owner/Operator with us is essential in allowing us to provide quality service to all our customers throughout the 48 states and Canada. As an independent business owner you need the flexibility to make wise business decisions which benefit your business and family. You can make these decisions with our support and the Owner/Operator programs identified below. Tractor Specifications Owner/Operator Tractors leased to the company must satisfy the following criteria: - Six years old or newer at the time of leasing.*
- Three-axle, sleeper cab, diesel power, cabover or conventional.
- Wheel base not to exceed 265 inches.
- Stack height of at least 13 feet, 6 inches.
- Fifth wheel height not to exceed 48 inches hooked to empty trailer.
- Dry weight not to exceed 19,000 lbs. full of fuel.
- Tractor must pass complete and detailed safety inspection at time of leasing.
*Once leased on, the not more than six years old requirement is suspended, provided the tractor's appearance and mechanics are properly maintained. Reconditioned tractors older than six years of age passing inspection can be leased under the Owner/Operator program. Documents Required for Leasing Your Tractor If your tractor has been cleared for leasing with the company, you will need the following documents to complete the process: - Performance escrow on Option 1 - $500 and on Option 2 - $750 (cash, certified check or bank money order necessary). $250 up front on signing contract. Balance in weekly payments of $25.
- Proof of payment of Federal Highway Use Tax (Form 2290).
- Current ticket from certified scale evidencing the tractor's weight with fuel tanks one-half full.
- Copy of Certificate of Title of tractor to be leased to Crete.
- Proof of insurance.
Tractor Decals "Crete Carrier Corporation, Lincoln, NE, US DOT 73705" must be displayed on the doors of all tractors leased to the company. Decals for the doors and unit number decals are supplied at the time of leasing. Should a contractor choose, the required information may, at contractor's expense, be hand lettered on the tractor's doors in a contrasting color.

Physical Damage Insurance Owner/Operators are
advised to have physical damage insurance coverage for the equipment
they lease to the company. This coverage can be secured by the owner
from many sources in the industry. The company does have an affiliate,
Capitol Casualty, where the owner can secure this coverage with either
a $500 or $1,000 deductible. Non-Trucking Use - Bobtail Coverage The company does require the owner to have Non-Trucking Use (Bobtail) insurance coverage on the leased equipment. The owner can secure this coverage from many providers or can elect to secure the coverage from Capitol Casualty Company, an affiliate of the company. Worker's Compensation Coverage The company requires an Owner/Operator to provide Worker's Compensation Coverage. This coverage can be secured by the owner from many providers within the industry or can be secured through the company. Cargo Insurance The company requires the owner to have cargo-loss coverage which can be secured from many sources within the transportation industry. An Owner/Operator can secure this protection from the company through the use of the Cargo Damage Liability Limitation Agreement. Tires and Parts Where possible, the company will pass on all its savings for tires and parts. We will also, from time to time, work on owners' equipment when time allows. Tractor Lease/Trade/Sale Program The company has an assortment of tractor lease and purchase programs to choose from. In some cases, the company may also be able to facilitate the trade of your existing tractor. Trip Settlements The company settles with its Owner/Operators weekly (Friday) for all trips received in our Crete/Shaffer Lincoln, Nebraska, terminal by Monday of each week. Your options for receiving your funds are i) direct deposit to your bank account; ii) transfer to your Comdata Express Cash account; or, iii) a paper check mailed to your business address. Direct deposit transfer of funds will result in the funds being available to you on Friday morning. To expedite the settlement process and the receipt of your funds, Crete has available for your use, truck stop scanning of the trip documents through the Transflo Express program.
